Sunday, April 21st, as every year, there will be the Earth Day March, an event celebrated in more than 140 countries.
Earth Day marks each year the 1970 anniversary of the initiation of the environmental movement.
Earth Day has become a planetary event, mobilizing 200 million people in 141 countries and acts as a leverage towards global environmental issues such as reutilisation and recycling. It also helped prepare the grounds for the Earth Summit in 1992, in Rio de Janeiro.
The walk will beging in front of Star Café (Lakeside and Victoria) at 2:00 pm. During the walk, we invite you to reflect on some of our own issues in Lac-Brome. More specifically how to:
• Save more of our precious water?
• Better protect our vegetation?
• Lower air and sound pollution?
Star Café and IGA will supply coffee & hot chocolate plus water to fill your own bottles.
Question: In your opinion what specific actions would you suggest our residents and elected officials consider to contribute favourably to Lac-Brome water, vegetation and air issues.
End of the march: 3:00 pm at Douglass Beach.
